Aaron and I were slow to get moving this morning, but that was all right. We didn’t really have major plans during the day, so we wanted to take it easy. Not only that, but looking out the window – it was blistering cold and rainy. I spoke to a good friend in the city, and we planned to meet up tonight for dinner. The plan was set in place. We went out early afternoon, stopped by the AEA office to drop off contracts and dues. They’re very nice! Walking back to the apartment, we were trying to find a place to eat lunch – someplace close, because we were so cold! We stopped by a local bar and grill – pretty tasty. Following lunch, we got back to the apartment pretty quickly. We just planned on relaxing before meeting up for dinner. But then, I checked email and was pleasantly surprised – okay ecstatic – we were offered complimentary tickets to see AVENUE Q!! I was so excited, having never seen this Broadway production, either, but I do have a song in my audition book from the show! Anyway, I called up my friend, she told me I should definitely take the offer, and we agreed to meet up next week, if possible. I texted another friend telling her that I love this city! She said something like, “by the way, it is not common practice for people to get complimentary tickets to Broadway productions.” When I got the news about the show, I was just pinching myself. Not a day goes by that I don’t look in the mirror and think, “how and why is this happening to me?” I just keep pinching myself. So, Aaron and I made plans to see the show, and absolutely LOVED it! I was laughing out loud, sometimes catching myself thinking “am I really watching puppets do what they’re doing” but having a great time. What creative lyrics, great music and phenomenal performances by the cast. I highly recommend this show to everyone with an open mind who can laugh at life through the eyes of puppets. We stopped by a very nice grocery store on the way home (gosh, everything is so expensive) and brought dinner home. I am now getting ready for bed, looking forward to my costume fittings in the morning: three, to be exact – one is actually at the Marquis Theater on Broadway. Woo hoo! We are slated to have a great dinner tomorrow evening, too. So all in all, a short blog for the evening… already thinking of Aaron leaving, which is killing me. I wish he could stay.
