So what did I do today – oh yeah… costumes, costumes, costumes! My day was actually kind of long. I had three costume fittings today. My first appointment had me in two different dresses and my “I Love A Piano” corset. Boy, the way clothes (and bras) fit during that time was a little bit different than today. The pointy cups remind me a little of Madonna… Anyway, the costumes were gorgeous. My winter dress is this red sweater under a plaid red/green suck-your-gut-in vest/corset over a red skirt that flairs out big when I turn with a white underskirt. The skirt will actually have a reindeer on it (think poodle skirt) with some beading work, and then the skirt bottom and the straps on the vest are trimmed in a white fur that looks like snow. WOW! Then, I had a hot pink dress with large white polka dots – heavenly. Finally, the black “Piano” corset is hot. Really… I liked it. My second fitting was for my “Blue Skies” suit jacket. When I walked in to the tailor, with Aaron, we both had a moment of, “Am I really here?” The store is full of fabrics that are used to make men’s suits, shirts and ties – handmade items custom tailored. So when I got my beautiful off-white jacket custom built for me, trimmed in a shiny/silk material on the lapel with amazing rhinestone buttons, tailored tight at the waist for a lady – I LOVED it! Finally, my last stop found me going in the stage door at the Marquis Theater. Never done that before… I got to see the stage and everything. Anyway, on to the fitting: winter gear and adorable boots and two beautiful, stunning vintage gowns. Need I say more? Everyone has been so kind in this process – I just couldn’t ask for a better experience. After all of that (which took four hours), we had already eaten at ESPN Zone (which was okay), we went back to the apartment. I discovered where to do laundry, so I did that this afternoon while I practiced for the show. I took a quick nap when I got back before we went to dinner with Aaron’s cousin. We had a great, great time! What a fun crowd. Admittedly, the food was a little fancy for me, but everything and everyone was so nice. We ate at a French Restaurant on the upper west side. We were actually by Columbia University. It was my longest trip on the train yet. So now, I’m back at the apartment getting ready to call it a night. I’m back to rehearsals tomorrow, so I need to get a good night’s sleep. Aaron is still here – YES – and is planning to stay on until Sunday. I am so excited about that! And for those of you worried about my foot, I think it’s on its way to recovery. I actually walked in heels tonight without pain. I think there is still a small, very small amount of fluid moving around, but the swelling is almost if not completely gone. I am still icing it and doing Advil, just to keep inflammation down. Whew – I had quite a scare! We have minimal dancing tomorrow, so that should help, too! Well, until then…
