Day 11

It was another day at rehearsal.  I didn’t sleep so well last night, so I was pretty tired today.  We started with staging, which is not typically my favorite part of the process.  We worked “Snow,” as well as my moment as Dreidel Girl.  Ha!  We worked one of the scenes in the barn – kind of rough drafts, if you will.  After lunch, we worked the quintet vocal to “The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing.”  I was very excited to be given this opportunity with the four other vocalists (only one other female).  It’s a jazz style, one person on each part.  I am enjoying singing the alto line, because it is full of color notes.  My favorite!  It went very well.  Then, we started dancing.  That always makes my tendon flair up.  That’s a bummer; furthermore, the floor we’re dancing on is slick, so there is a lot of gripping in your feet and legs that isn’t comfortable.  Plus, I have to hold back in movement, which is never what I want to do.  But, we got through it.  We worked “I Love A Piano” a lot today, as well as worked on “Let Yourself Go” (bringing in the principal actors).  Finally, we started more work on “Blue Skies.”  It’s all starting to look so amazing!  I just get so excited watching how it all comes together.  Oh, when I first went in this morning, my shoe fitting got moved.  So I did that first, at Capezio.  WOW – what a great store.  I went in to try a couple pair of character shoes.  It was pretty quick and easy, but keep in mind that getting from place to place isn’t always quick and easy.  Anyway, on my way out of Capezio, I saw the cutest top and dance shorts that I couldn’t resist – not for me.  I got it for my niece, who absolutely loves dance.  I hope she likes it; I think she will.  So, Aaron met me for lunch again today – that was nice.  I’m really going to miss him when he leaves me on Sunday.  It’s been so great having him here with me.  So tonight, after I got home, we met with our friends Bradley and David.  What a nice time.  We talked theatre a lot, which was so great.  They are the kind of friends with whom you can feely express – no censoring.  I like that!  They’re going to actually check with a friend about possibly getting me in for a headshot on Sunday.  If that works out, now I have to think about clothes.  Great…  Not that I don’t want to go shopping – but can I afford to go shopping?  No.  I’ll let you know what happens.  I have rehearsal again tomorrow, of course.  I don’t technically have to be there at 10:00 AM; however, the role of Judy is rehearsing a dance, so I’m going to try and view that for understudy work.  There is more staging to come tomorrow, and of course, more dancing.  I hope it all goes well.  I have scheduled lunch with a friend from Indy tomorrow (he’s visiting NYC), so that should be fun.  I am also supposed to attend a Halloween party tomorrow evening; I need to get directions for that.  With that in mind, I hope I have the energy to enjoy the evening…  I find it difficult to work in NYC, because there is such a strong desire to want to get out and enjoy the city.  But after working all day, you just don’t feel like it.  Speaking of that, it’s about that time.  I hope I can sleep, considering we watched the 100 SCARIEST MOVIE MOMENTS this evening.  Yeah, that was smart.  Happy Halloween!!
