Day 13

Well, after writing my blog for last night, Aaron and I went out for our last night on the town before he left.  We ended up having pizza at a little restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen.  That was nice.  And then we went to what is most definitely our favorite spot in New York – Russian Vodka Room.  I have to admit, our NY friend, David, introduced it to us on a trip last September, and we loved it then so decided to go back.  Well, last night was even better.  We had fresh cut strawberries on a plate with whipped cream and powdered sugar.  In the center of the plate was a small candle warming a little dish of chocolate.  It was heavenly.  Of course, that was a complement to the cosmopolitans we were drinking.  We had mango, strawberry, apple and watermelon.  Our waitress was super nice; she gave us the watermelon at no cost.  I have to tell you, getting home for me would’ve been impossible without Aaron’s arm, but I had a blast.  The drinks were SO delicious – and therein lies the problem, right?  What a fantastic evening.  This morning, we slept in and both dreaded his departure at about 1:00 PM.  I was an emotional wreck (surprise), but after dealing with that, my day went well.  I decided to get a new bag to carry, since the zipper in my favorite pink bag broke.  I am going to try and get it repaired when I get home, but for now, I don’t have time.  I did find a very sleek black bag that I love (would love more if it was pink, but there were no pink bags to be found).  Then, I was on the hunt for a new purse, since I didn’t bring one to the city.  I found two – a purple one (my favorite color) and a black one.  And of course, going to H&M without falling in love with the clothes is impossible – especially when the store has three floors.  Aaron will be glad to know that I didn’t purchase nearly what I took into the dressing room.  But trying things on was fun.  I did find a few cute things.  I think one of the hardest things for me in NYC is being here and working, which does not allow me time to explore and engage in as many activities as I’d like here in town.  Secondly, is not being able to go shopping, because I can’t afford it.  I find it extremely frustrating.  C’est la vie.  You will all be happy to know that my foot is feeling so much better.  I hope I can still say that after tomorrow’s rehearsal.  The creaking has ceased, which is definitely a great sign (it felt so gross).  The swelling continues to go down.  Just to be on the safe side, I am still icing and will continue Advil as needed.  I did walk a good deal today (more than I thought I would), and I am still feeling great.  Oh, and I stopped by ESPN Zone tonight to pick up something for my nephew.  I found two great tee-shirts that I think he’ll love; he’s big into sports!  I got back to apartment about 6:00 tonight, after hitting the grocery on the way home.  I made dinner for myself and have decided to snuggle in for the night – maybe get out the knitting needles.
