Day 21

Well, my day started at the gym – okay, my early afternoon started at the gym.  I LOVE GOING!  I have a great work out buddy, so that really helps.  After that, I went in for my costume fitting, which was – well – okay.  But my corsets that I wear were too tight.  I don’t know if the makers forgot to let out the inch here and there that I was promised, so now, it should be taken care of.  I’m glad I tried them all on.  But everything looks gorgeous.  Oh, and I still don’t have my hot pink tap shoes.  Not sure what to make of that.  It’s all good.  I then thought I had a quick change rehearsal; however, they just had my name down instead of someone else’s, so I didn’t have that after all.  So I went to wigs early.  While I’m not sure about the style (though it is very period), at least it is close to my natural hair color.  Finally – I don’t have to be a blond.  And I only have one wig in the show.  Thank goodness!!  I really like my dressing room space, though I won’t really be in it outside of before the show, at intermission and after the show.  All dressing is done on the side of the stage with dressers.  It seems odd not doing everything for yourself, but we have assistance with everything.  While I was waiting on my car buddy to get finished (which didn’t happen until 10:00 PM tonight – I’m exhausted), I took a little tour of the theatre.  Can I just say that no words can fully describe what I will attempt to tell you?  I have NEVER seen anything like it in my life.  I walked out onto the stage – downstage center – looked out into the house for the first time and could not get over the view.  There were around 5,000 empty seats starting back at me.  I can’t imagine what it will feel like when they’re not empty (okay, so I’m always the optimist).  But then, it’s so cool to see the tables spanning the backs of seats in the house, the sound board all exposed, ladders, set pieces, props, etc., because it’s what most people never see.  It’s the work in progress that I find terribly incredible.  I walked out into the house and looked back at the stage – woah!  The orchestra pit sitting between the front row and the stage; the stage almost looked like a postcard when you got far back into the house.  The mezzanines were spectacular and the detail work in this building is phenomenal.  And I haven’t even been in the lobby.  When I walked out, it was dark, so I’m seeing everything dimly lit by the solitary Christmas tree at the top of a huge staircase.  There were angels floating overhead, columns and pillars everywhere.  It was nothing short of spectacular.  I cannot wait for my family and friends to come see this production.  I am so proud of it.  So when I got back this evening (what was left of it), I cooked some dinner and am quickly considering it’s about bedtime.  I’m so tired, and tomorrow is going to be the start of a VERY long week.
