Day 24

I have enjoyed this day tremendously.  Well, what there has been of it thus far.  I thought – why not try to write the blog at dinner time, that way, when I don’t get home until almost midnight, I won’t be up forever.  I actually don’t feel like I slept very well last night.  I don’t know; it was one of those heavy sleeps that wakes you with a headache, and you’re almost more tired than you were when you went to bed.  So, I’ve fought a headache all day, as well as heavy eyelids and slow moving body.  Rehearsal started with a sitzprobe… what joy.  When the overture started, this huge goofy grin came over me and I high-fived my friend, Kilty.  He knew what that moment meant for me, since we had talked about it a couple days ago.  It was actually a cool setting earlier today.  We were in an upper lobby with the orchestra, so we were all gathered together closely.  I could’ve listened all day.  It was really something to hear it all together like that.  I cannot wait to dance to them playing.  It will make all the difference in hitting accents and simply feeling the music.  So, we sang through the show and then had a short vocal rehearsal after, which was nice in the resonating halls of the Fox.  It’s hard to hear things on stage – vocals, piano, each other.  I hope that gets better.  The floor was treated today, so cross your fingers that it’s easier to move.  We actually got let out almost an hour early, so I got back from dinner break not long after it should’ve started.  We beat the dinner rush, which allows more digestive time.  I need that, considering I ate close to ALL of my burger, and if you’ve been out to eat with me, that’s quite an accomplishment.  I was starving.  How is it that rehearsal started ½ hour later than normal, I didn’t dance this afternoon, and I went to dinner 1 hour earlier and I was hungrier than I have been all week?  Strange.  So now I’m back at the theatre, not able to get connected to the internet for some reason (I did yesterday).  Tonight, we will start in the second act with the Regency Room scene (the one where Betty is singing solo and Bob goes to bring her back to Vermont).  Luckily, I am sitting throughout the entire scene.  My main bit is coming later, where we dance more.  But the hardest stuff is over.  We do have to make some changes to our gift giving scene, but once we get that, it should be smooth sailing.  Woo hoo!  Broadway has an invited dress rehearsal tonight, and they start previews tomorrow.  I think we technically open before they do, but it’s just exciting to be this close!  Don’t get me wrong – not ready to open tomorrow!  Okay, so hopefully tonight goes smoothly, and I will have more to report tomorrow.  For A and M (arla): SITZPROBE!!!  [insert Beevis & Butthead laughs here]
