Day 25

Today went pretty well, and amazingly, I am not exhausted.  We finished the big tech of the show when we arrived today.  We were done with that by dinner.  So before we left for dinner, we started another run through.  It actually went pretty well.  We only had one girl scratched from a falling sign, one actor with a twisted ankle and a scratch on his shin from adjusting due to the ankle hang up in the dark and another actor with a light weight drop that came down on his head.  Yes, folks.  Mishaps can happen anywhere.  But at the end of the day, we got let out 1 ½ hours early and everyone survived.  This show is very involved technically, so it was bound to happen, I guess.  I’m finding it very difficult to hear vocals and/or music through any monitor system.  I have a feeling that the space is just so large, it may always be like that.  I hope tomorrow, I have all of my costume pieces and shoes.  I wish I had more exciting news to report, but we’re now at the point where we’re just running the show to get the feel of everything.  Oh – we did have it snow on us twice today.  That’s interesting in tap shoes, let me tell you.  So yeah, that’s about it.  Tomorrow is our last day of the week, which will be nice.  I think we all need our day off on Sunday.  I have to say, though, I commend our crew.  They get there every morning at 8:00 AM and they don’t leave until everything is done at the end of the night.  One of my dressers told me that she’s getting about 4 hours of sleep a night.  I can’t even imagine…  We just have a great group of people – cast, crew, staff…  You name it, they’re great.  I think it helps to get through concerns and “problems,” because you know that everyone around you is doing their best with what they’ve been given.  I am still having lots of fun, but admittedly, this week has been taxing on the body and mind.
