So the foot is officially swollen. What? Let’s start the day, first. We had a 10:00 AM vocal rehearsal, but only for an hour. Then – off to the dance floor. Yep – you read right – we danced from 11:00 – 2:00, and then again from 3:00 – 6:00. Now we know why the foot is swollen. I’ve stretched it, rested it, iced it, I don’t know. I hope that the four days off this week will heal it. We worked on several variations (different parts of the music, not different options) of choreography for “Blue Skies.” There are a lot of neat parts to this really slick jazz routine. Love it! We also learned the final tap routine in the show – we call it “all skate.” It’s super cute, and nice and laid back. Which is great, considering what we do the rest of the show. We worked on getting the style of “I Love A Piano,” and for the first time, I actually got through the entire “Let Yourself Go” killer tap routine. Which was a good thing, considering I was right in front of Randy Skinner. Woo hoo! He came in to see our progress and make a few adjustments and tweaking. That was pretty nice. Walter Bobbie was also there today. He came in and watched a little bit of our work. It’s just really neat to get this opportunity. When we break into groups to dance (so we have more room), I just stand in amazement at the talent in the room and consider myself so blessed to even be here. Everyone is so nice, yet everyone is there to work, work, work and get things the best they can. Break time often finds dancers on their feet working even more. We come back from lunch early, too. It’s just so refreshing and motivating to be around all of these people. When we tap, it sounds like one – and there are over 20 of us there rehearsing. Don’t panic – that’s not the entire two casts – we’re only the NEW members of the Detroit and Broadway casts. Anyway, it’s just so neat to see everyone hitting a head move, a shoulder move, a passé with a pointed toe. I LOVE IT! When Aaron is in town this coming week, I get to have two costume fittings (I haven’t seen anything, yet, so I can’t wait) and we’ve been invited to see IN THE HEIGHTS complimentary, from the producers. Isn’t that cool? So, I’m back in my apartment, icing the foot – AGAIN – munching on some chips and of course, a mountain dew. I figure I’ve had plenty of water for the day… refill the bottle… refill the bottle… refill the bottle. I had a few moments today where I thought – I could pass out – Here comes my lunch – Where is the air!!! It’s all good. No actually, it’s all amazing!!
